S.A. War Veterans Honour Elderly Couple

A very ple'asant function was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. R. Evans, Buller Road, on Thursday afternoon, when about 20 South African War veterans paid them a surprise visit to make them a presentation. The guests, who were accompanied by their wives, paid tribute to the couple for the great work that they had done for the veterans, describing them as the mother and fathe'r of the association. ' During the afternoon the president of the association, Mr. - E. Hogg, presented Mrs. - Evans with a pressure cooker, and her husband with a fountain pen.
