An authority on international law and the Fat East, Professor S. Gale Lowrie, of the University of Cincinnati, will arrive at -Auckland on Sunday by air, in order to lecture at Victoria University ;COllege for a year under a Fulbright grant. Professor Lowrie has been at the University of Cincinnati since 1912 and holds the chair of politieal soie^ce. Mrs. Who will accomp'any her husband, is well known as the pain^er Agnes Potter van Ryn and is a frequent exhibitor in New York ahd* elsewhere. The death occurred in Levin recently, at- the early age of 32 yoars, of Mr. Jaanes William Souter. Born at Pahiatua, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. " James Souter, of The Avenue, Levin. He attended the Pahiatua an'd Leviri Schools and subsequently - was licensee of the Central ; Hotel, Eltham, for a short period. Mr. Souter entered the armed serviees in Jahuary, ' 1942, afid pfOOeeded overseas later that year, serving on Norfolk Island and New Caledonia. He returned to New Zealand in May, 1944. Left to mourn their loss are his widow and young: f amily of four {Gayle^ Erisg, Denke; and Wendy) , his parents, ohe sister and four brothers.
