New Crown Pieces Bought Up Quickly
Crown piecfe hunting" was the favourite pastime in Levin this morning when this new coin, criginally minted to mark the anticipated Royal visit, made its first appearance locally. As supplies were very limited it can be safely stated that- after issue from Ihe banks none found their way Into general circulation, being being quickly secured away by colIsctors as souyenir pieces. One! bank oflicial said this morning that his bank's supplies were exhausted within the first hour of release.' He estimated that only about 400 crown pieces were allocated to Levin. The total minted for the whble' of New Zealand was only 20,000.
