Maher, M.P., National candi'date fbr the;; Otaki electorate. , / J Mr.. Maher dealt mainly, with points in the National , Party's policy and trenchantly criticised What he 1 desoribed as the petty and unneeessary controls imposed on the people. Mr. Maher was accorded a vote of thanks by acclamation on the motion of Mrs. H. F. Tews, who referred to the eaindidate's sincerity of purpose and courage. Mr. J D. Avery, presi'dent of the Otaki branch of the National Party, was in the o'hair.
