Otaki Institute Holds Its Monthly Meeting
The monthly meeting of the Otaki Women's Institute was held recently when the president Mrs. J. G. Ross," was in the chair and extended a cordial welcome to all present. Members were reminded of the birthday celebrations to be held by the Tasman institute, and final arrangements were ma'de for the concert to be held tomorrow night. It Was agreed to hold a ohildren's Ohristmas party on Deeember 9 from 5 to 7 p.m., many offers of assistanee being forihcoming. An invitation to visit the Otaki Textiles factory was re'ceived and thankfully accepted. The motto for the month was given by Mrs. R. Mather, and was "Happiness consists not in possessing much, but in being content with what we possess." Miss Rose Hakaraia entertained with two delightful songs. The making of work boxes was very ably demonstrated- by Mrs. W. Clark, of Te Horo, who was accorded a hearty vote of thanks on t'he motion of Mrs. A. E. Taylor. Mrs. Clark was presented with a bouquet. Competition winners were as follows:— Best flower: Mrs. H. T. Mould 1, Mrs. G. M. Kirk 2. Best Shrub: Mrs. H. Mathie 1, Mrs. J. Mudge 2. Article for Christmas tree: Mrs. S. Brooks 1, Mrs. Mould 2. Competitions for Decemher will be for the best flower and shrub, jar of* mincemeat and a mop. Hostesses for next month will be Mesdames C. Evans, P. Freeman and R. Grice, amd Misses R. Frier, K. W. Gaby and P. Fogden.
