Bassinettes For Babies On Night Expresses

WELLINGTON, Nov. 12. Mothers travelling in a sleeper on the Wellington- Auckland expresses, will be able to hire bassinettbS for infants. As an experiment only, four bassinettes have been made but should the experiment prove successful, the amenity will be extended to all overnight trains on North and South Island trunk lines. Completely portable bassinettes have been designed for the purpose, made of light tubular steel chromium plated, and unbleached calico with a detachable fiap at the head to shade the' baby's eyes from the light. Each bassinette is provided with a kapoc mattress and waterproof sheet but the mother is expected to supply pilltiw and blankets.
