Well-Known Otaki Citizen's Sudden Death
Deep regret will .be felt throughout the distiict at the sudden passing on Saturday afternoon of Mr. Allan Carmont Jenkins, aged 75 years. Mr. Jenkins had carried out his usual varied activities fluring the day, having cut lawns during the morning obd made a fishing trip to the beach/after luneh. On returning from the beach he suffered a sudden seizure. A member of a pioneer family Mr. Jenkins eame to Otaki with his parents when a boy. Of a quiet unassuming nature, he made countless friends during his many years' residence in Otaki'. At all tim.es he took a kindly interest in affairs for the welfare of his fellow men. An elder brother, George, die'd sud'denly two years ago. ' Charles Jenkins, brilliant jockey of former years,. was another brother. Three brothers, Fred, Alex and Walter, are lef't to moum their loss. The interment took place at Otaki . today. An inquest was held before Mr. . J. S. Moir, district coroner, and the verdict retumed was t'hat Mr. Jenkins had died as a result of. heart failure.
