Four Seaforth Highlanders Killed In Skirmish

Received Monday, 9.10 a.m. SINGAPORE, Nov. 13. • Four members of the First Battalion of Seaforth Highlanders were killed and another wounded in a 2-|-fiour engagement with a large terrorist force in the Segamat area of Johore yesterday. A Seaforth officer said that seven guerrillas were killed in the battle. A Seaforth patrol chanced on agang entrenched in the jungle and immediately came under heavy fire. At one period the troops were encircled by the guerrillas, who made a flanking attack, but a Seaforth private was sent through the bandits' iine for reinforeements. The engagement was broken off by the bandits when reinforeements arrived. While the fighting was. in progress the Seaforth Company headquarters was attaeked by other guerrillas who were repulsed without inflicting casualties.
