BIBLE TRUTH The Devil— Who 1s He? IT is oi great lmporiance to understand this question, because the Son of God was manifested expressly for the purpose of destroytng tiie Devil and his works, as it is written I John 3:8, "P^or this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy ihe works of the devil," and Heortvvs 2:14, "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of ' flesh and blood, he (Christl also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy hina that had the power of dbath, that is, the devil." The mission of Christ is, therefore, imperfeetiy understood when the nature of the Bible Devil is not compreliended. It will be found upon examination that the Devil is not (as is commonly supposed) a personal. supernatural agent^of evil, and, that-in fact, there is no, such BEING in existence. The Devil is a Scnptural personification of sin in the flesh, In its several phases of manifestation, subjective, individual, aggregate, social, and political, in history, current experience, and prophecy; after the style of metaphor which- speaks of wisdorn as a woman, riches as MAMMON and the god of this world, sin as a master, etc. Send for the pamphlet "Does it matter what we believe," gladly sent free to any address on application to H.
