NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 11. A shearer employed on the Piripiri Station was drowned when he dived into the Awakino River and apparentl.v struck his head on a hidden ledge. He was William Ngaia, aged 22, of Nor manby, near Hawera. Mr Ngaia and a companion went to the river to swim and during the time lxis companion returned to the station for a towel Ngaia disappeared. A" search was made that evening and the following day, and it was not until midday that Ngaia 's bod v was found.
