Last Saturday saw the opening of the Hautere Defence Rifle Club's championship series with a dpuble shoot over 300 yards. The weather was ideal in the afternoon, but a rather tricky wind prevaHe'cT in the morning. Nevertheless, this did not stop C. Cobb from returning a score of 93 off the rifle. Freeman 46 — 43 — 89, J. Clark 42— 43 — 85, B. Geange 39—42 — 81 and R. J. Meagher 40 — 34 — 74. Next Saturdav there will be a 10-shot over 500 and 600 yards.
