Murder Investigation Goes On At Foxton
PALMERSTON' Nth., NoV. 10. On the fourth day of tlie police- investigations into* the, murder of Mf& Emily Christina Hall, 69 year old widow, at Foxton, no major developments which might lead to the iddntifieation of ihe callous slayer had oocufred and yesterday- there was nothing to suggest that the police are optimiatic of an early arrest. The hec'tic activity of the first threbdavs when the police interviewed scores of persons and closely sereened all those who might have been visitors to the house had settled down yesterday to steady collation and study of- the ma> terial available. The force of local deteet'ives, rein1forced by officers from Wellington, continued the task of interviewing and making a house to house and- shop to shop canvass in the hope of obtaining some indication of when the unfortunte woman was last seen alive. Tliough many of the statements Have proved conflicting, this was -only to be expected and no resentment _ should be felt by those concerned if it has been found necessary to check them. Some of the original clues the police had to work on have proved worthless but there are still several vital ones that are being followed up.
