Apprentice Jockey Fatally Injured
CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 8. William McLean, an apprentice jockey, aged 19, died in the Christ-: church Public Hospital at 12.45 p.m. ' today, oue hour after he was admitted with injuries suffered in a fall from j Balkis near the five furlongs post during the running of the open seven fur- 1 longs sprint at the race trials held at Riccarton during the morning McLean was apprenticed to the Riccarton trainer, -V. A. Lee. Balkis apparently/ slipped and crashed. _ j
