Red Professor Banned By British Scientists
^ LONDON, Nov. 4. ' The Council of the British Association for the Advaneement of Bcience decided today not to re-elect Professor J. D. Bernal to the council, The council stated that it objected to the opinion which Professor Bei*nal expressed in a speech at Moscow j last August. 1 Professor Bernal is professor of physics at Birbeck College, London, and went to Moscow for a conference of Soviet partisanS for peace. j In his speech at the conference he I was reported as saying that Russia had ■ won the war in Europe, and would j have won the Japanese war. He was also quoted as saying that in capitalist countries the direction of science , was in the hands of those who hated peace, and whose only aim was to destioy and torture tlie people so that . their own profits mjght be secured for i some years longer*
