Burglary Suspect Vanishes After Questioning

DANNEVIRKE, Nov. 7. A robbery occurred at Dannevirke on Sunday night at the shop premlses of Mr. A. Spiers, confectioner, of High Street. About £80 in cheques and cash was stolen. . As the result of inquiries by Sergeant McGettigan and Constahle Wyatt, a young man residing at Kumeti, some miles from Dannevirke, was questioned and later the police recovered a canvas bag containing about £30 hid'den under a hedge close to the residence where the young man lived. When they returned to the house to further question him, they found he had vanished. This morning between 6 and 8 a.m. a motor car disappeared from a residence near Dannevirke. It is thought that this may be connected with the departure of the suspect.
