Widespread Havoc Reported In Philippines

Received Friday, 10.30 a.m. MANILA, Nov. 3., 4 More than 250 persons. are believed to have met. their death in a typhoon which swept the Philippines yesterday. The Manila Chronicle reported that 200 were killed or drowned at Kabankalan, on Negros Island. Other deaths are reported from the Visayan Islands. The authorities fear .that the casualty list might be heavier than is reported so far, since mapy places affected have still not been heard from. The places hardest hit were Cebu, Iloilo, * Bohol, Panay, Negros and Suriagao. One report said that the whole town of Dumagat, in the ! Suriagao Province, was completely destroyed. The Red Cross announced tonight that more than 6650 victims in Cebu had already been given emergency relief. There were 15 deaths in Cebu, where widespread havoc is reported.
