CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 4. Sir Arthur Dbnnelly announced last evening that he intended to retire next week from the-position of president of the New Zealand Cricket Council. Speaking at a function held last evening to weicome the Christchurch members of the cricket team which toured Britain recently, Sir Arthur said he was glad to • be able to finish his administrative eareer in Canterbury, where he had begun it. The retirement of Sir Arthur will end an association with cricket administration in New Zealand which has covered a period of 37 years. Sir Arthur was a member of the New Zealand Cricket Council continuously from 1912 until 1937, apart from the war years. He was chairman from 1928 until 1937 and in that capacity accompanied the New -Zealand cricket team that went to England in 1931. On his retirement after 25 years' service ,Jie was elected a fife member of the (council. fie was elected president of the council last year.
