Complaints About Quality Of Fertiliser
. INVERCARGILL, Nov. 2. Concern at the standard of superphosphate being received by many Southland farmers was expressed by members at a mfeeting of agricuitural section of the Southland provincial executive of Eederated Farmers today. A reinit from the Limehills branck objeeted to '/farmers paying a high price for super in its present condition. ' ' This view was supported by severai members who said they had heard complaints from dozens of farmers. "We are paying a high price for rubbish, and it is time something is done about it, " said Mr J. Hazlett. ' A big proportion of the supplies appeared to be sticky and wet, and there have been cases reported of fertiliser clogging machinery and in some instances causing damage." The fertiliser -vvorks had been approached and some of the companies had installed new machinery to improve the standard, said the chairman (Mr F. M. Henderson).. He agreed that the moisture content was one of the9 main problems.
