Received Wednesday 8.55 p.m. HONG KONG, Nov. 2. Fighting flared up in , Southwest. China in the past 24 hours, uccording to Chinese reports received in Hong Kong. General Lin Piao's Communist regulai's last night were reported to be r.aeing towards Wuchoy on the West River^ 120 miles west Of Canton. The Nationalist defenders are said to have withdrawn from Wuchow. In Southern Hunan "Lin Piao 's f orces captufed Kuanyang 50 miles northeast of Kweilin.' Threatened with mvasion from three directions the. Nationalist armies are being evacuated from Kweilin to Lichow 85 miles south, according to nnconfirmed Teports. Pro-Nationalist reports from Chengtu said Communist regular troops enter'ed Sikang provinee and are now attacking Tehka. General Hochiminli's Vietnam (Indochina) guerrillas oceupied two small towns in Southwestern Kwangtnng and another Vietnam column is attack-i ing Kwangsi border towns. British offieiaj sources today accepted with eaution Chinese reports that Viet-.; nam Communists from Indochina hadi invaded Kwangsi and Kwangtnng.; They said even if the reports werei true this activity did not necessarilv'; represent any new development as both] the AUetminhese and Chinese Commun-] ist guerrillas had long operated on] both sides of the intemational frontier. ; It is possible that these operations have been intensified iv^ order to eifibarrass] the Nationalist armies hard pressed bv Communist regulars from the north and east. French official sources again report e"d that they had no information on the border developments.
