Labour Call For Reflection On Performances

INVERCARGILL, Nov. 2. Labour came before the people to ask for reflection on past performances and nofr> neeessarily on the future, said the Minister of Mine.s and Labour, Mr. Angus McLagan, in the Waikiwi Hall last night. Labour had gained power in the middle of the depression and had had to contend with all the misery and disaster wrought by it, Mr. McLagan said. Yet the National Party maintained that Labour took office on a rising tide of prosperity. Could 57,000 unemployed be considered as a rising tide of prosperity? The meeting was lively with several interjections, but good temper prevailed. Everyone appeared to appreciate the little bit of political heat engendered. The Minister answered several questions and was accorded a vote of confidence on a show of hands.
