Progress In Battle To Conquer Cancer

NEW YORK, Oct. 29. Recent research developments would lead eventually to the complete control of cancer, said Dr. Alton Ochsner, of New Orleans, speaking after his election as president of the American Cancer Society at the Society 's annual meeting. Dr Ochsner added that recent developments involving hormones and chemotherapy (treatment of internal diseases with chemicals) indicated that science ultimately would be able to control even advanced cancer. Dr. Ochsner said results were now being seen of the millions of dollars spent on research. Other scientists reported encouraging evidence of progress in the fight against cancer, hut warned that a cure had not heen found.
