French Airliner Crashed On Mountain

PARIS, Oct. 28. The wreckage of the Air France Constellation airliuer whieh went missing ' on a flight" from Paris to New York has been sighted on a mountain peak in the j Azores Islands. I A communique issued by Air France said that there were some survivors as , figuxes were seen to be moving near the Wreckage, but ' later . messages from the Azores say that all 48 persons aboard were killed. A searek plane found the Constellation near Algarvia Peak, 1100 metres high and located in the north-east poftion of San Miguel Island. A rescue party immediately left Santa Maria to searek for possible survivors. Since then Air France has announeed that the control tower at Orly has picked up a message saying "No survivors of the air crash. " Messages from Pouta Delgada (the Azores) also say everyone aboard was killed, and that the plane is burned out. These reports say that all 48 bodies are unrecognisable. The plane was to have landed at Santa Maria in the Azores at 2.55 a.m. G.M.T. Five minutes before that time it gave its position by radio. The weather was clear and the pilot reported tliat everythiug was proeeeding normally. Notliing more was heard from the aircraft.
