Received Friday, 8.30 p.m. s LONDON, Oct. 21. A firm of German wine importers has , bought half a million gallons of Alger- ( ian wine from the British Food Ministry at a price which according to the Minister of Food (Mr. Strachey) will show "a small profit" on the transaction. t Large quantities of Algerian wine were bought by the Ministry two years ' ago but proved so difficult to sell to the British publie that the Ministry made repeated efforts to sell them to overseas j bidders. The transaction has been the j eubject of considerable criticisxn in' the 1 Commons and of unfavourable comment • in tlie press.
