Educational Institute Holds Monthly Meeting
There was a gpo4 attendance of teachers at the monthly meeting oi tne Horowhenua branch- of the New Zealand Educational Institute held in Levin recently. The president, Mr. W. H. TownrpW, pcpiipied the chair and extend'ed a, 'i^^lcome to Miss J. C. Davis, of Shannon, and Mr. Foster/ of Otaki, to 'brahch' meetings. He expressed the' hojpe that their stay in the 'district would be long and profitable. ' The secretary was instructed to write and congratulate Miss P. Fullarton on her promotion and wish her >well in the future. It was resolved to inform the Wellington Primary Schools' Cricket Association that owing t.o practical difflculties, it would be impossible for Horowhenua schools to take part in the proposed quadrangular cricket tournament, to be held towards the end of the present year. The following remits ,are to be forwarded for discussion at the next annual meeting of the N.Z.E.I.: — (1) That the N.Z.E.I. take a lead in the introduction of a decimal system of coinage in New Zealand; (2) that the Dominion executive contribute up to £100 per annum towards the expenses of each committee of branches; (3) that the Dominion executive pursue r with greater vigour the policy of more and better housing for teachers. , Mr. C. E. Wiseley gave a report on the negotiations between thecommittee of branches and the senior inspector on the questions of country service, country service and new infant readers. The meeting closed with votes of thanks to the ladies for afternoon tea arrangements.
