HAblliMxbj Uct. 1d. Percy Kelly, 9.7, of Auckland, retained liis New Zealand professionai liglitweight boxing title wlien Syd. Stevens 9.2, of Hastings, collapsed in the 12th round in Hastings tonight. Kelly, whose greater experience was the tell ing factor in the contest, was down four times in the sixth round but he recovered and graduallv outboxed the challenger. In the 12th round he swarmed all over Rtevens,. dropped him for nine with a hard right to the head and retained the title a few seconds later Iwhen Rtevens collapsed in a corner and tlie referee stopped the fight.
