SHIP SINKS AFTER BEING GUTTED BY FIRE
NEW YORK, Oct. 17. The Salina Cruz, 1343 tons, en route from Vancouver to Honolulu, overturn* ed and sank in the Paeifie today after being gutted by a blazing cargo of timber. Seventeen members of the crexv took to lifeboats and were picked up by a rescue ship. There were no casualties, The fire started in the enginerooni and spread to the heavy cargo of timber on the deck.
