Residential School For Outback Children
WELLINGTON, Oct. 18. Arrangements had been made to hold a residential school for GorrespondencC School pupils at Massey College, said the Minister of Education, Mr. McCombs, today. Sixty boys of forms 3, 4 and 5 from various parts of the Dominion will assemble at the College on November 2 and begin a course which ends on November 30. Six masters from the Correspondence School will also be in residenee.
This is an extension, said the Minister, of the policy of bringing together groups of Correspondence School pupils sp that they may have the benefits of group tuition and the social experiencs of living together with their fellow pupils. Four classrooms and a science laboratory are being made available at Massey College for the post primary group. A full post primary currieulum is . being provided With special emphasis on those aspects of'the syllabus Which are most difficult to deal with by correspondence, such as oral work in 1 languages^ laboratory work in science and physical education. Speeialist teachers in art and woodworlc will visit the school regularly. Arrangements are also being made for practieal agricul-j tural studies. I
