Successful Comeback For Levin Cyclists
After being in recess for 10 years", the sport of road cycling has become firmly established again in the season just concluded. A pleasing feature of the revival of the sport was the great interest taken by the large number of cyclisis who joined the Levin Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club to give it a substantial standing in the athletic world. Most of the road races held were over distances of from 30 to 40 miles. The points competition . was keenly contestbd throughout the season and resulted in P. Elliot and A. Rolston being equal for first place. Others in the running for honours were T. Searanke and O. Connelly. . Points prizes awarded for the fastest times recorded were: H. Donovan 1, M. Harper 2, P. Elliot 3. The prize awarded to the cyclist showing the best sportsmanship went to M. Harper. The prize for the rider attending the most Saturday afternoon meetings was won by A. Rnlston. The annual 100-mile race from Palmerston North 'to Wellington is to be held during the coming Labour Day weekend and two local riders will 'be goihg all out in an effort td gain ftirther laurels for the Levin- club. They are H. Donovan and M. Harper, who carry with them the wishes of good luck and good riding from j fc.llow members.
