Levin Sanatorium To Be Concrete Building
Officers of the Health Department and the Government architect are strong in their advocacy of a concrete and steel building for the proposed new tuberculosis sanatorium at Levin, according to. information given the Western Hospital Districts' .Toint Sanatorium Committee vesterday. "We are still awaiting the result of the soil survey which is heing unciqrtaken by the Works Department,''' said the managing secretarv (Air. A. J. Phillipps). "However, in the meantime at the request of the Government architect, preliminarv discussions with representatives of the two departments have been held. Tlie object of these discussions was to endeayour to prepare recammendations for the committee as to what buildings should be erected on the site and how buildings should be placed on tlie site, and to. advise on preliminarv issues on the matter of jnaterials to be used and the general type of'construction to be followed. "Generally, the Government architect's representative and the Health Department officers have adopted a verv helpful attitude in connecfion with preliminary plaunincr nnd all were ; in agreement that for the main buildings in anv event, concrete structuV should be adoptedf" j Following a discnssion by the comjmittee regarding the preliminary pffin[ning, the meeting went into committee to degl with matters relating to the sit§ for sanntorium.
