Purpose Of Meeting. The idea of the meeting that night was not to formulate any scheme, said Mr Robinson. "We have got to look after our public and our senior players also. We must look at the whole thing from a broad viewpoint. It is not that our players have not had the opportunities. This season they played against the All Black team and the Australians. We have got to watch out and not rush into something that might be detrimental to football as a whole. If we amalgamate just ;to benefit a few I don't know if it would be the right thing. We have also got to consider the ones left and not get the top men in to the 'disadvantage of the rest. If, however, it is to our advantage to amalgamate we must not shut our eyes to it.7' Mr. Robinson said that perhaps an arrangement could .be brought about, making it possible for the four top teams in Horowhenua to p.ay the four top teams in the Manawatu union at the end of the season. It was merely an idea, of course. As far as he could see Manawatu were more anxious to extend their boundaries. In closing the meeting he thanked all tlqose who had attended, particularly the older members, whose views had been most helpful. When the union meet Manawatu it would now have a fund of knowledge in regard to what took place in earlier days, and the union would be able to approaeh the whole thing with an open mind.
