Croquet Players Back From Australia

WELLINGTON, Oct. 10. Thirty New Zealand croquet players returned to Wellington today aboard the s.s. Wanganella from Sydney, after competing for tv^o months in croquet competitions in Australia. The party of players was under the leadership of the president of the New Zealand Croquet Association (Mr. W. H. Kirk). Oldest active player of the group was Mr. Frank Wedd, who is 81 years of age. His opinion of the tour was "good fun." • The party played in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, in addition to competing in the Austxalian inter-statei champiphships. ; Only two events were finalised in the qhampionships before the party left for New . Zealand, and ih both cases New ZehlainderS gained places. Mr. Eark, parthering Mrs. E. Kirk, won the hfiiidieap .doublesy and Mrs. A. Nottle, of Westport, partnered by Mr. Gordon Rowling, of Nelson, was runnerup in the championship doubles.
