Onekaka Ironsand Tests Concluded

NELSON, Oct. 6. The smelting experiments at One kaka have ended. At midday ycster day the electric furnace was tapped for the last time, following which the power load was 'dropped. Professor Lemoine, who has been in eharge oi the operation, and Mr. R. Jackson, comniissioner of the State Iron and Steel Department, made a final inspection of the works this morning and left later for Wellington. A small staff of technicians will remain to dismantle the electric furnace and plant used in the processing of sinter for shipmenl to South Africa. Before an accurate assessment of the results of the experiments is possibJe, a mass of scientifie data will require close examination and an analysis oi the product remains to be done.
