WELLINGTON, October 7. With the majority of the horses eompeting tomorrow engaged at Trentham the following weekend wide interest is bemg taken in the Masterton Club's meeting at Opaki. This fixturedias always been looked upon as a rehearsal of wh,at to expect at Trentham the following week when the Wellington Racmg Uub will open its three days spring, meeting. Form is well represented and should prove a 1'airly reliable guide tomorrow. Other meetings with horses running also engaged .at Trentham: are Auckland, Waipukurau and South Canterbury. Form at these fixtures will also be followed with interest.

The Masterton Cup, which has drawn a splendid class field, looks very open, with such good form. horses as Leyma, Liebestraum, Merry Robin, and Royal Victor engaged besides ' improvers close to top form such as Welcome Guest, Renowned, Lord Holland, Beau-Or and Beau Bijou. Taking a, line through his comfortable win at Carterton, his good draw and ability to hold his position eany Leyma reads a very good prospect. Liebescraum's Hawke's Bay success has brought him into favour, while Royal Victor 's 'dogged second to "Liebestraum gives • him an excellent chance, partic- . ularly so on his own track. Of the others Beau Bijou holds the best prospects. After losing a lot of ground at the start of the main event at Hawke's Bay he fmished brilliantly to reach fourth place. Beau-Or might be seen in a much better light than at- Otaki. In the Solway Handicap. with Castlebrae, winner of a division of this race last year, False Step, Who is weil forward, Demonic who is not far from his best, and who is an accepter for Wellington, Outlook an excellent race should be the outcome.
