Police Say Five-day Week Is Possible

WELLINGTON, Oct. 5. A 40-hour five-day week for policemeii, is oue of the subjects being discussed at the 14th annual conference of the Police Association which opened in Wellington todav. Tt is eontended that these conditions are possible even with the present shortage of staff. Otlier subjects for discussion are an earlier retiring age on superannuation and housing. There are complaints that inadequate housing has caused men to be separated from their families on their transfer. The president of the association, Mr. A. G. Quin, Wellington, is presiding

over delegates from 15 police assoeia-. tions. The conference is expected to conclude tomorrow when the Prime Minister and Minister of Police, Mr. Fraser, and Commissioner of Police, Mr. J. Cummings, will attend.
