Bowling Club's Activities
A well-attended general nieeting of the Shannon Bowling Cluh was held last week, when it was reported that members had done very good. work on the green and its surroundings over the past few weeks. It was stated that the working bees had put the grounds in better condition than 'has been the case for many years. The new honours board has been erected and will serve to record the names of club eompetition winners for a number of years. Arrangements were completec? for the holding of a gala day on the green on Saturday, October 15, and the official opening is to be held a week later. The usual Labour Day tournament was discusse.d and it was agreed that the tournament be held again this season. Invitations are fo be issued to outside rinks and there is a good selectioir of trophies for the tournament. It is expected that the day will be as popular as in past years. Suggestions for the club badge were put forward and many infceresting -designs were submitted. • These will be considered at a later meeting. Dates for the triangular tournament fixtures were discussed and it was unanimously decided that a southern districts' tournament be organised by the four southern clubs, Foxton, Levin, Shannon and Levin Central.
