Chmese headed tne list oi aiiens on the New Zealand register at April 1, the total being 2457, a drop of 100 during the year'. Yugoslavs, who numhered 746, were next, and after them c&rile* '725. Americans, 694 Poles, 315 Italians, 291 Germans, 244 Danes, 231 Duiixjh, 155 Greeks, 137 Swiss, 122 Norwegians, an'd 116 French. There were 13 Syrians, 14 Lehanese, and 15 Esthonians. These figures do! not include children under 16 years, staffs of legations and consulates, and temporary visitors. The total number of aliens on the register, according to the Abstract of Statistics, was 6788, an increase of 512 over the year. ,
