Allied military patrols and German border police today turned back thousands of Russian zone G-ermans who tried to ".invade" Western Germany during the Com- • munist-inspired world peace day I ceiebrations. Thousands of others, however, managed to cross the border to take advantage of the economic plenty of the Western zones. ' Merchants at Coburg were reported to be selling goods at the rate of six east marks for one west i mar^ I American Military Government officers at Coburg termed the Russian relaxation of the border restrictions as "another typical move to heckle." • They said that Hungary East zone Germans jammed the stores and stripped the shelves of items, causing temporary shortages. In London, several thousand demonstrators, chanting peace slogans, marched through the West End to the Cenotaph, where they placed a wreath of white flowers in the shape of a dove of peace. The march followed a rally in Hyde Park organised by the British Peace Committee, which is an offshoot of the Communist-sponsored Paris Peace Congress last April.
