SPLENDID FIELDS FOR OTAKI

L.M

.M.)

(Special — From

WELLINGTON, Sept. 30. . Splendid fields are carded tomorrow for the concluding day^of the Otaki Maori Racing Club's spring meeting and although a number oi' fresh horses are engaged first day form should prove f^irly reliable. The main event, the Rere Nikitini Memorial, has some good form to recommend it, but if Dark Afrow can avoid a further cheek, which happened at the turn to the straight last week and cost him the race, he should keep the field busy to hold him o at the post. He is one of the fittest horses in the race.

With last week's winner, Lady Myrtle, out of the field, general ppinipn favoutfs Blue Seal, and •jtidged by the manner in which he hung on after Lady Myrtle had the better of the argument, he should. be an improved' an'd much harder horse to keep out of the money tomorrow. Imperial looked very well when paraded at Marton in the sprint and ran a good fifth. His is expected to dispute tomorrow's ' issue. Bronstar had a rocky passage in the Ling Memorial, but if greeted with better for- - tune tomorrow has the class to win. Other prospects are Cheerful Night, a good third last week, Angell, Gratuity and the promoted form hack Battle Strife. Form aefinitely points to Destination wihning the open sprint, but in Faultina winner at Marton, Coshona, close third at Carterton, Gay Gordon,, good third at Marton and the much improved The Missioner, who ran a great fifth at Wanganui, the favourite will find strong opposition. I expect to see a good race from The Missioner and would not be surprised if he proves an upsetting factor in the race. Prospects for Otaki, Dunedin, TTa.wlrp's Rav nnri Tp Aroha n.rft*
