WELLINGTON, Sept. 29. Uniformity of angling licence fees between the South and North Islands, is established by regulation8 gazetted tonight. The Alinister of Marine, Mr Hackett, said this had been sought for two years by the South Island council of tjte Acclimatisation Societies. Hithvrto the fee for men's licences had been 25s in the South and 30s in the North. A request that the South Island fee be made the samo as that in the North, had now been acceded to by the Government on the understanding that much of the additional rovenue will be used for specific purposes, particularlv the provision of better basic fisheries, training for employees, a better balanced field service as between largt, and small societies, and possibly staff superannuation. To obviate any hardehip the Government , has, however, made provision for the issue of free licenees or licences at redueed fees where, in the view of a society, sufficient eompaasionate ground exists. The endorsement fee of 5s on South : Island licence? used in the North Island, will no longer be required. ' The licence fees in the Government j controlled districts of Taupo, Rotorua ' and the Southern Lakes, are not affect- j ed nor are licence fees in districts gen- 1 erally for women, youths or boys, altltough a proportionate change in the I men's Ealf-seasoa lieenceB, is made0 I
