Badmixitan Closing. The .Shannon Badminton Cluh officially, closed its 1949 season on Saturday evening, when there was a good attendance of members and visitors at the Druids' Hall. As in the past, the evening took the form of organised games followed by a social. A Quiet Period. The recent cold weather, combined with a slight epidemic of colds in the district, has been responsibje for a general quietening of activxties about . the town. Sinee the beginning of the week there have! been very few people in the streets and business firms report that there has been a marked falling off in saies. Opiki Flower Show. The Opiki garden eircle's daffodil show held reeently was an outstanding * success. The entries totalled 936. The judges remarke'd on the high standard of the blooms and the premier one,. "Ludlow," exhibited by Mrs. C. Robinson, was an excellent specimen. In opening the show, Mrs. 'Lynch congratulated the circle on its successful gathering.
