Good ewe hoggets brought 57s 6d, modiuiu 51s and small 38s. Good i-)owu crosa hoggets changoo hands at 46s. . Other clauses of sheej were in limited supply, ewes with lamb at foot bringing 27s 7d to 32s (ali counted) and empty ewes 31s 6d. Bliort 2-th wethers were passed in at 37s45q With fat sheep entries back to not mai, the market regained its stead;'tone after a hardehing of 2s a head last week. Quality was generally. good Prime aged ewes were traded' at 41's 7d to 45s 4d, unfinished bringtrig 35s lOd. Prime voung ewes brought to 54s lQd Priiue wethers sold at 59s 7d to' 59s 10d lighter at 56s 4d and 'shorn . at 3Ss 4q to 42s lOd. Heavy hoggets brought 58s ld and small down to 43s ld. ■ ; Yesterday's record priee of £20. 10^ for store bullocks at Waipukurau was eclipsed at Stortford Lodge when £21 was paid for a top quali]^' line o., eattle. The j'arding of 1360 head was the largest in thi. yards this season. Grown cattle • pre-dominat-ed and included some -attra'ctive liues of bullocks. Among the largei lines of yearlings quality did not feach the standard of some recent "saies, most lines being 110 more than mediuin grown. A good bench of buyers followed tlie sale with interest and generally Ihe market was solid with- few pussmgs. Forwaid bullocks were traded at £Jb 5s to £21, others selliug at £16 to £18 2s. Yearling steers brought £9 2s to £10 9s. In-calf cows sold at £11, empty cows al £9 10s to '£11 4s, empty two-year heiters £9 16s to £11 17s 6d- and yearling hvjiers at £8 12s 6d. Ox and cow values eased slightly iii the beef market, witii heifers holding the'ir own at recent rates. This was tlu consequence of a large yearding of 215 head in which there was a fair.selection of quality. Thc entry contained some quality pens of heifers, prime heavy beasts topping the market at £19 13s 6d. The best price for ox was obtained at £25 13s 6d. Generally ox-beef wa# inclined to be shelly. Prime ox changed hands at £24 18s 6d to £25 13, s 6d, mediuin quality bringing £23 8s 6d to £2-i 8s 6d and light and unfinished £17 18s 6d to'£22 13s 6d. Prime heavy heifort were traded at £19 3s Od to £19 13s 6d.
