Phillips, in his report "to the annual meeting of the club on Tuesday night. The membership of the c.ub now stood at 101 financial members, including 93 active members, sureiy a record, and entitling the ciub to three delegates to the Manawatu centre. Ganeraily speaking the club nigh.s had been fairly well attended. The weather had not ' been favourable for the first half of the 'season an'd this had not been encouragifig to4 swimmers. The learners' classes had been fairly well attended, although only by juniors. A few of the juniors xiad completed fairly solid training and mosu of these had attained major suecesses through their elforts. He wished to' congratulate all those who had secured club honours and trusted they would keep up the good work. He also congratulated those who had won Manawatu championships. It was the first occasion in which ko many titles had been won by the club in one season. The New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association had sent a team of women swimmers on tour, comprising Mrs. Atkinson (manageress) and Misses Ngaire Lane, Betty . Casey and Hazel Forsythe (two of whom had since been married), continued Mr. Phillips. Levin and Foxton had been. fortunate in being included iri the itinerary and had held carnivals which had been successful. Instruction received by club members and school children had been most beneficial and the club was indebted to the parent association for the visit of the team. Ihe club had been represented at ali-outside carnivals with the exception of Dannevirke, which had held its carnival too close to several others and at a time when petrol rationing was severe. _ At every carnival members had more than held their own and he. would also like to comment/on the good behaviour of the teams on tour. The plans for the extension of the baths were still in view, but were held up by shortages of materia.s, said the president. He wished to thank Miss'P. Wills for carrying on as secretary when the sacretary elected at the last annual meeting had left Levin. A member of the committee, Mr. A.
