(Special — From
WELLINGTON, Sept. 23. With the close proximity to the three-days sprint fixture of the Wellington Racing Club, form at the Otaki Maori Racing Club'a spring meeting, opening tomorrow, will be followed with more than OTdihary interest as most of the horses running tomorrow and the following Saturday are nominated for Trentham. With excellent fields to draw" the crowds all that remains is lor the weather to be fine for the club to enjoy a most successful opening to the meeting. The club's new secretary, Mr. T. Winiata, is proving a very much live wire in the position and is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the success of his first meeting. The course superintendent, Mr. Albert Meta, has the track in splendid order. Other meetings tomorrow are the opening days of the Hawke's Bay and Dunedin fixtures, single days of Ohinemuri and Geraldine and the concluding days of Auckland and New Brighton trotting meetings.
The Ling Memorial at Otaki has drawn a good field of form middle distance performers, the best on recent running being Dark Arrow, seconcl to Maryburn at Ashburton last week. Bronstar, who received a bad pajssage at Carterton, Mr. Pym, winner last start at Wanganui, Lady Myrtle, winner last .start at Riccarton, Angell third last Start at Riccarton, Beau-Or, second \,o Bright Side at Marton and Parlous. Taking a line through his running last Saturday Beau-Or appeais strongly as a bright prospect tomorrow. The race he had has greatly benefited him and he looks bright and fit. His mairi -aanger seems to be in Dark Arrow, who looks the parL and is exceptionally well, Lady Myrtle, a consistent and honest mare, his stablemate Bronstar and Angell, who has a penchant for racing well at Otaki. Improved showmgs can be expected from Brons.ar and Parlous. Best form in the op'en sprint is held by Castlebrae, who won at | Carterton, Destination, second at Marton, La Modelle, close foufth at Marton and Illustrious. After a somewnat rocky passage at Marton Le Modeile was finishing on well into fourth and with better fortune in the running tomorrow should prove one of the hardest to beat. Most serious opposition should come from Destination, who is about back to his best foim, and Castlebrae. A lightweight prospect is Illustrious. Prospects for Otaki, Hastings, Dunearn, Auck-and Trots and New Brighton Trots arr • x
