Just Not Frinton To Carry On Like That
Received Thursdav 7 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 22. The proposal of a wealthy young British evangelist, Maurice Rowlandson to opcn wliat he called " an ideal Christian youth eentre" in a 20-roometl mansion at Frinton-on-Sea, a select seaside resort in Essex, is being strongly opposed by other householders in the neighbourliood who have iodged fornm!objections with the Ministry of Health arbitration tribunal." Alr Rowlandson \s brochure discribing the attractions of his centre, states the day would begin with a xylophone gong call at 7.30 a.m. and carry on with ' ' grand choruses^ much sanctified huiuour and cousecrated fun." The solieitor representing the residents said that " to allow people to sing ahd make a lioise like this in our streets, ivould simply not be Frinton." Mr Rowlandson said there would be a complete ban upon drinking, daflenig and smokng at the eentre and all windows would be closed when there was singing. The tribunal reserved its decision.
