It was with pleasure that he \yas ab.e to record. another successful year, whh plenty of action from competing members and algo stronger suppjrt from the public bhan ever before, said Mr. W. F. Cribb, president pf the Levin Am'ateur Athletic and Cye ing Club, when pregenting his report oO the annual meeting of the club on Tqesday night. This in itseif poipted to a \better s.andard of performance on the part of the competitors and also to the gcod co-operation between committees set up to carry out the various duties, he added "Again we * must thank our neighbouring clubs for their very sporting effort in travelling tp all Jur evening meetings, and in go doing creating a very keen and spirited sense of competition. We, in turn, have earried out our part and yisited their mee'angs an.d, I am pleased to sa.y, with quite considerable suocess. "We have had to face some heavy expenses which, of cdurse, have contributed in a large- way to the very successful • season. However, due to vhe fine and
generous support from the 'business people of Leyin, we are financially in the same position as we were at the beginning of the' year. This is a very good effort on the part of the commiftee as a whole and we trust that the coming season will be at least as successful. . . "At one stage your committee was faced with the loss of a very capable and energetic secretary, Mr. A. Dobson, who, up to tne time of his departure for Austra"ia, earried the club's business tfirough a very successful period. I am pleased to ne able to state that our assistant secretary, Miss Nancy Harper, took over Mr. Dobson's position and has up to this moment proved to the committee that she is quite up to the .iob and is in fact more than a huge success. "This year hss seen the recqmmencement of the road cycling events and I must here pay full tribyie to. the committee set up to look after matters connected With these events. A special trifcute is due to the cub handicapper, Mr. G. Milroy, as I feel sure all will agree. Due to the approach of the Empire Games, I would advise all aetive members tp get down to training early this year and although all cannot be ehampions, all will get their chance. It must remembered, however, that it is only by sheer determination and a thorough training programnie that any man or woman can reach his or her zenith. "We have been proud and most appreciative of the yery capab'e attention given our .athletes by 'he Levin St'. John Ambulance Brigade, and to them we extend our thanks. We have also a deep sense of gratitude for the valuajble assistance given the club by Mr. E. J. Stanley and the boys from the Levin Training Centre. These boys have earried out a job of work that would be a eredit to anyope. They have kept our track in order and at all times assisted us. We extend our thanks to Mr. Stanley and the boys, as without them we would not have been ab'e to have earried out cur meetings with such success."
