Athletic And Cycling Club's Annual Meeting
Thpre was a good attendance of supporters and members of the Shannon Amateur Athletic and Cycling Cluh at the annuai general meeting,, held. in Laurvig's Hall on Wednesday evening. - % The president, Mr. W. L. Carter, presented a comprehensive report dealing with the activities and progress of the cluh during. the 1948-49 season, and said that ,. the club's first season had been most successful from every point of view. . Mr. Carter thanked all membfers and the public who had contributed towards this success and made particular reference to the grand work done in putting the cycling track in order. The president said that the open meet- " ing held at the conclusion of last season was a very fitting climax to a most successful season. In conclusion, he thanked members of his committee for their cooperation during the year. The treasurer, Mr. G. S. Beer, then presented the financial statement, which showed a credit balance of £117 12s 9d. Members agree'd that this was an excellent balance considering the club had ■started the season without funds. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: — Patron: * Mr. D. A. Fitzgerald; president: Mr. W. L. Carter;- vice-presidents: Messrs L. G. Sayer, C. Tremewan, A. Gillespie, A. H. Richards and T. Fuller; secretary and treasurer: Mr. G. S. Beer; delegates to centre; Messrs H. Sayer (athletics) and G. S..Beer (cycling); auditor: Mr. T." jS:- Downes; representatives to Domain Improvement Committee:, Messrs H. Sayer and Beer; committee: Messrs E. H. Barber, Tremewan, I. P. Hemmingsen, E. Hook, Gillespie, M. Parr, A. Wood, N; Batt, N. Woo'dmass, D. Cole, J. Moore, Fuller, H. Sayer, L. Coulter, A. Richards, L. Sayer, J. Ritchie, G. McEwen, H. Curran, P. K. Robinson, A. Robinson, A. Lee, D. Lind, K. Prier, Mrs. H. Sayer and Misses M. MacLean and J. Parr. It was decided that subscriptions for the coming season be the same as for last year. The following were elected hon-. orary members of the cluh: Messrs E. Perry, J. Ritchie, H, Beatson, D. Lee and E. Quinn. The secretary, Mr. Beer, offerecl to donate a trophy to the club for competition among the cyclists. The trophy is to be won outright by the Shannon rider gaining the Iftbst^pdlhtS r&t tihS^dWS^wfeekly meetings. It was decided to hold a working bee on the track on September 25, commencing at 8 ajn.
