Dangers Of Level Crossing At Levin
WELLINGTON, Sept. 21. The question of additional safeguards a.t the Queen ^treet crpssing, Levin, is being ,cpx:sidpred by thf Government, Mr. Semple, Minister of Railways, told Mr. J. J. Mah.er (NationaJ— Otaki) in the House of Representatives today. He was giving a'written reply to a question in which Mr. Maher drew attention to ihe recent aceident at the crossin^ and urged a minimisation of thp dangers at the crossing. Mr.' Semple said the crossing was already equipped with warning belis and lights which were working at the time oi th^ aceident mentioned. ' ' The only remedy for accidents caused by traffic users who ignore these warning signals, is t.p ,^parate rail ftom rqad but this is iiot a practicable solutiun this particulftr crossing," said Mr. Senapia.
