Pensioners Wait Pleasure Of Parliament
AUCKLAND, Sept. 20. Many age beneficiaries who reeeived tlieir pensions from Social Security Dep'artment officers today, wonder when tlie extra 5s a week promised by the Ministey of Finance, Mr. Nash, in Ma Budget speeeh last month, will be reeeived. They were advised that .the Auckland office was still waiting on instruetions from Wellington. 1 The chairman of the Social Security Commission, Mr. B. P. Waters, in a ■telephpne interview ' from Wellington, said that beneficiaries of social security and war pensions funds were . not , legaliy, entitled to the increases aunounced in -the Budget until amenptin'g Bills liad been approved by Parliament.
