Air Crashes Mar Battle Of Britain Day
^ LONDON, Sept. 17". Three air crashes involving nine deaths marked Battle of Britain Day today. Thousands of people at Middleton St. George aerodrome, near Darlington, saw a Wellington bomber hurtle tn the ground and burst into flames. The crew of six were killed. Two were killed when a Harvard training plane crashed and caught fire near Upwood areodrome, Hnntingdonshire, when practising aerobatics fo; the station 's "at home." A §aunders-Roe singlo-seater « jet flying-boat dived into the sea during a display off the Lelixstowe, S.uffolk, seafront. kiore than 764,000 people attended "at homes" at 82 Royal Air Force stations.
