Crazy Scenes In London's Financial Hub
Received Tuesday. 11.30 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 19. Shouting masses of stockbrokers and speculators in gold shares blocked s*reets and roads in the ! stock exchange area today. Fortunes were made in minutes amid the craziest scenes witnessed in London's finaneial hub since before the war. Long lanes of traffic were at a standstill as speculators waving naners milled about in justling and shouting crowds. South Africah gold shares were bnisted as much as 63 per cent. over the nre-devaluation levels. One broker is known to have made a nrofit of hundreds of thousamls '•terlinsr. He had been accumulating gold shares for year in the hope of devaluation.
